About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Backend Developer to act as Technical Lead for a strategic application within a leading EU financial institution.

You will combine strong hands-on development skills with technical leadership, solution design, and ownership of backend applications operating in a critical financial environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on taking responsibility, coordinating technical activities across developers, reviewing implementations, and driving high-quality software delivery — all while remaining actively involved in day-to-day development.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust backend solutions using Java and Spring Boot

• Lead the technical design of new features and enhancements

• Coordinate and mentor other Java developers within the team

• Review code and ensure compliance with coding standards and best practices

• Drive software quality through design reviews, testing, and continuous improvement

• Collaborate closely with Solution Architects, Business Analysts, QA engineers, and DevOps engineers

• Analyze complex functional and technical requirements and translate them into scalable solutions

• Ensure maintainability, performance, and security of developed solutions

• Support CI/CD processes and participate in release activities

• Provide second-line production support, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex production issues

• Take ownership of technical decisions and proactively identify opportunities for improvement

Required Skills

Excellent knowledge of:

• 7+ years of experience in a similar position

• Java 17

• Spring Framework / Spring Boot

• JPA / Hibernate

• SQL

• Design and implementation of REST APIs

Strong experience with:

• Apache Kafka or other messaging technologies

• Maven

• JUnit

• CI/CD pipelines

• Git

Nice to have:

• Experience in financial services or banking

• Azure DevOps

• Liquibase

• SOAP web services

Language

• Fluent English (mandatory)
