Enterprise Architect – Jobs & Skills Digital Ecosystem (EU Institution Project)
We are supporting a major European institution in the evolution of its digital ecosystem within the Jobs & Skills domain, a strategic area that includes interconnected platforms such as EURES, Europass and ESCO.
We are currently looking for an Enterprise Architect to help shape, review and evolve the architecture of this ecosystem, ensuring alignment with institutional IT governance standards and long-term digital strategy.
🎯 About the Role
In this position, you will play a key architectural role in a large-scale, multi-system environment, working at the intersection of business, technology, and governance.
You will act as a key technical reference point between internal IT stakeholders and external development teams, helping ensure consistency, scalability, and alignment across all systems in the domain.
This role also includes close collaboration with project leadership, providing architectural insight and product-level understanding to support decision-making.
📋 Responsibilities
• Propose and document architecture improvements for complex, interconnected enterprise systems, ensuring reuse of existing components and alignment with established technical constraints
• Ensure alignment between business needs and system architecture through documentation, presentations, and stakeholder workshops
• Review technical analysis produced by external development teams and provide recommendations on design decisions, estimates, and architectural direction
• Evaluate and propose architectural solutions for system synergies and integration opportunities across related platforms
• Support decision-making related to system evolution, architecture changes, and technical roadmap definition
• Perform risk and issue analysis and propose mitigation strategies
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders including architects, analysts, project managers, and external providers
• Ensure consistency and quality in architecture documentation and technical governance practices
🎯 Mandatory Requirements
🎓 Education
• Master’s degree or equivalent qualification
🧠 Professional Experience & Expertise
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Java-based software development
• Strong experience in enterprise IT architecture design and system evolution
• Minimum 5 years of experience in UML modelling and architectural diagramming
• Experience working with complex, large-scale enterprise systems
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical architecture solutions
• Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders in structured IT governance environments
• Strong background in system integration and architectural decision-making
🧰 Technical Knowledge & Skills
• Extensive experience in IT architecture and system design
• Ability to produce clear, structured architectural documentation and decision records
• Strong communication skills (written and oral) for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to evaluate trade-offs between multiple architectural solutions (pros, cons, risks)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to model architectures using UML standards
• Knowledge of enterprise integration principles and system interoperability
• Experience working in environments with high governance and compliance requirements
• Ability to work in multicultural, international environments
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills

• Experience with large-scale public or institutional IT environments
• Knowledge of reusable enterprise components and shared services architectures
• Experience working with distributed teams and external service providers
• Familiarity with IT governance frameworks in large organisations
• Experience supporting transformation or modernization programs
🌐 Languages
• Fluent English (mandatory)
• French is an asset (B1/B2 or higher preferred)

• Near-site to Brussels (within 2 hours travel time)
