Expert QA Automation Engineer (QAE) – Corporate Arachne Information System

🎯 About the Role
We are looking for an Expert QA Automation Engineer to support the evolution, quality assurance and test automation of a critical risk-scoring and data analytics platform used by Member States and European institutions to detect fraud, errors and irregularities in public funding programmes.

The professional will work closely with business stakeholders, Member State authorities, external development teams and international institutional environments to ensure the quality, reliability and performance of a complex, data-driven enterprise system.

You will be responsible for defining and implementing test strategies, building and maintaining automated test frameworks, and ensuring high-quality delivery of data-intensive applications operating in a DevSecOps environment. The role requires strong expertise in test automation, data validation, API testing and large-scale enterprise systems, preferably within cloud-based and data-driven architectures.

📋 Responsibilities
• Define test strategies, test plans and test cases for complex data-driven systems
• Design, build and maintain test scenarios, test scripts and automated test frameworks
• Execute functional, integration, regression and acceptance tests
• Prepare, manage and maintain test data for testing environments
• Produce structured test reports and quality metrics for stakeholders
• Design and implement test automation solutions aligned with DevSecOps practices
• Evaluate and select appropriate automation tools and frameworks for the project
• Develop and maintain automated testing architectures and pipelines
• Ensure continuous improvement of test automation coverage and efficiency
• Support API testing, backend validation and data integrity testing
• Perform data quality checks using SQL and database validation techniques
• Support acceptance testing activities with business stakeholders
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts and architects to ensure testability of requirements
• Identify defects, document issues and support defect management and resolution processes
• Contribute to quality assurance standards and best practices within the project
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, daily stand-ups)
• Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases and delivered functionalities
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA and DevSecOps processes

✅ Mandatory Requirements

🎓 Education
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification

🧠 Professional Experience & Expertise
• Proven experience in software testing and quality assurance in enterprise environments
• Minimum 3 years of experience in test automation (Selenium or equivalent tools)
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum / Sprint-based methodologies
• Proven experience in API testing (SOAPUI, Postman or equivalent tools)
• Experience in data-driven testing and data validation using SQL
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (MS SQL, Oracle or similar)
• Experience in testing data-intensive systems (data warehouse, data lakes, ETL, data mining)
• Experience with test management tools (e.g. Jira, Zephyr or equivalent)
• Experience with defect tracking tools (Jira or equivalent)
• Experience designing and maintaining automated test frameworks
• Knowledge of cloud environments (Azure, AWS or equivalent)
• Experience with web application testing tools (Selenium, WebdriverIO, Cypress or equivalent)
• Knowledge of CI/CD and DevSecOps practices
• Understanding of test reporting, metrics and quality dashboards
• Experience supporting acceptance testing with business stakeholders

💡 Nice to Have
• Knowledge of Elasticsearch, Spark or big data technologies
• Exposure to Machine Learning / AI-based systems testing
• Experience in public sector or large international institutional environments
• Knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g. JMeter, LoadRunner)
• Experience with security testing or data protection environments

📜 Certifications
• ISTQB Foundation Level (mandatory or equivalent)
• ISTQB Test Automation Engineer (strong asset)
• ISTQB Advanced Level (Test Analyst or equivalent, asset)

🌐 Languages
• Fluent English (mandatory)
• French is an asset (B1/B2 or higher preferred)

📍 Location
• Near-site to Brussels (reachable within 2 hours)

💼 Work Model
• Remote / Near-site (depending on assignment)
• Client equipment provided
• Occasional presence in Brussels may be required
• Participation in meetings with stakeholders and institutional partners
