Senior Linux / DevOps Engineer – Infrastructure & Platform Support

🎯 About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Linux / DevOps Engineer to join a long-term project within a European institutional environment. The professional will support the operation, maintenance, and evolution of a critical scientific data platform in the fisheries and aquaculture domain, ensuring system stability, security, and performance.

You will work in a highly regulated environment, focused on operational reliability, automation, and support for core services used by EU Member States.

🧠 Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Linux systems (Ubuntu / RedHat) in critical production environments

• Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems and infrastructure components

• Manage containerized environments (Docker and Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines

• Implement and maintain automation scripts (Bash / Ansible)

• Manage backups, restores, and disaster recovery strategies

• Monitor systems and applications, analyzing logs and performance metrics

• Collaborate with central infrastructure teams and helpdesk

• Integrate and support PostgreSQL databases in distributed environments

• Support incident resolution and technical troubleshooting in complex environments

• Produce and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures

• Participate in capacity planning and system optimization activities

• Ensure compliance with security policies and ITIL standards

• Support technical users and scientific teams in an international context

✅ Mandatory Requirements

• University degree (Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent)

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Linux system administration

• Proven experience with Docker and Kubernetes

• Experience with automation (Ansible and/or Bash scripting)

• Knowledge of virtualization environments (VMware or equivalent)

• Experience with PostgreSQL databases (basic or advanced administration)

• Experience in enterprise / production-critical environments

• Strong troubleshooting and complex problem-solving skills
